Portraits in Fergus

I had a great opportunity to spend a week in Elora this summer shooting and working with other photographers as part of the Wellington County Museum & Archives Summer Art Programs.  The group was lead by Trina Koster who I really appreciate and have learned so much from.

While in Elora I spent one days photographing Laura and Kristen in the Fergus Ontario. What a beautiful area of Ontario and so great to photograph and spend time in shopping and eating.

Here are some of the shots from that day.

Julia + Murray in London and Stratford

Did we have a great summer or what?  There were so many opportunities to spend time creating memories in the sun photographing amazing people.

The couple in this post are no exception to that.  Julia and Murray live in the downtown core of London Ontario and love the urban lifestyle. Shopping at the market, having picnics in the park and feeding the squirrels in Vitoria Park are just some of the perks of living in such a great city.

Spending time with these two people is uplifting and positive. That’s really something.

P.S. – did mention that this is my one and only Mom and her husband Murray. Well it is, and I think they look amazing.

Children’s Photography – Capturing Those Moments

In the early spring of this year I had the opportunity to spend some time shooting children’s photography with Tiffany from LifeImages based out of Oakville Ontario.  It was a productive day that started with talking about strategies and techniques to create outstanding children’s photography.

By the way, if you’ve never visited their site then you are missing out on one of the best photography sites ever.  Alex and Tiffany produce amazing, breathtaking shots and offer so much to their clients.  Guys, your shots just leave me speechless.

Lakeshore Road in Oakville Ontario is such a great place to spend a day.  There are cool shops, cafes and lunch spots.  I had a tasty sushi Bento Box at Jam Restaurant and Martini Bar right on the busy strip and YUM, what can I say, I loved it!  I am a big new fan of Oakville.

Tiffany brought her two sons and nephew to the shoot as models to work with.  Right off the bat they were ready to pose, pulling some killer stances and faces for the camera (think Zoolander) It was AWESOME and FUNNY, it doesn’t get better than that.

A most sincere and humble thank-you to LifeImages, and especially Tiffany for your time and giving so much of yourself.

Without further ado, here are some of the shots of these great kids. I hope you like them as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Um, cute?

Notice how dirty this guy got his clothes in no time at all! Oh to be a kid again.

Scraped knees, all part of growing up.  Remember how much it used to hurt? OUCH!

One cool dude! Apparently too cool for kisses.

Sweet and sad.

Thanks for tuning in.

Engagement and Wedding Workshop in Toronto

A few weeks ago I attended a great workshop hosted by Pikto. Pikto print photos and photobooks and have an beautiful studio located in the quaint Distillery District, Toronto.  I had never visited the Distillery District so I was in for a real treat.  What an interesting place filled with shops and restaurants. If you haven’t been, its well worth the detour.

The Workshop was lead by the trend setting Toronto Wedding Photographer – Tara McMullen and boy, did she dish the goods.  No question was off limits. None. It was scandalous the amount of  information she divulged. (Thanks so much Tara)

Tara took the group of us out on an Engagement shoot and a Wedding Prep and portrait shoot over a Tuesday and Wednesday in late July.  (photos coming soon)

THANKS A MILLION TARA!!!

Hair was by Kristin at Fuss Hair Studio.  I had a chance to talk with Kristin about being vegan and her hair studio. (thanks Kristin)

The make up was by Hayley Cotterill. Hayley has a post about the shoot & makeup at her blog at hayleycotterill.blogspot.com (WOW is right Hayley!)

Here are some of the sights of the Distillery District in Toronto.

YES, you can rent a Segway and tour around the district.  Looks like fun.

And here is Tara.

Doesn`t she look like she`s about to hit something, ACTUALLY, Tara was incredibly patient the entire workshop. Here she is showing us about the exposure bar in our cameras.

And here is Tara at work, doing what she does best, taking amazing photos.

Grabbed a coffee at Balzac`s Coffee which is also located in my home town of Stratford Ontario.

Stratford Hog Jog – Inspiration meets Perseverance

I had the great opportunity to shoot at the 2010 Stratford Ontario Hog Jog and I must say,  what an amazing day.  The run was a huge success again, perfect weather, well trained athletes and happy people all around.  A big thanks goes out the to organizers of the Run.

Being around so many motivated and energetic people is energizing and leaves me fully charged!

I’ll leave you with one thought and one pic from the day.
